This spring and summer's strongest style statement for Jamaicans: the Clarks boot. Here's another chapter in an enduring love tale between English sharp dressing and Jamaican rudeboy style.

If you were to ask Jamaican dancehall artist Vybz Kartel what the shoe style for the season is, the answer would probably be "Clarks me prefer, Clarks for the summer, Clarks for the winter". Plainly speaking, Vybz Kartel's and Jamaica's infatuation with the traditional British boot maker isn't a seasonal thing. Both the Guardian and Metro report that staff at Clarks are working hard to meet demand of their Desert, Trek and Wallabee boots. Ever since Vybz Kartel's chart topping "Clarks" song went to conquer Jamaican airwaves this spring, stock of Clarks shoes have dwindled dramatically on the island.

"Clarks is as much a part of the Jamaican culture as ackee and saltfish and roast breadfruit, I swear to you," says Vybz, real name Adijah Palmer.

Personally I find Clarks do match up nicely to a lot of things. Tell us how you sport yours, or if you're planning on getting a pair.
